Shameless Plugging I stronlgly reccomend the book "From The Fryer To The Fuel Tank". It's supposed to be an alternative energy book, and it opens with all sorts of Big Oil propaganda and other hippie crap. They really seem to be down with converting their old V-Dubs and Benzes and BMW's to running on Waste Vegetable Oil. But it also has a plethora of info on Diesel Engines and the energy industry in general.
