Oh, the madness
Evidently, anyone with an internet connection can now view the
SR-71 Blackbird Flight Manual.
The SR-71 is a badass plane. It's capable of a 100000 foot cruising altitude, and s sustained speed of Mach 3, which is about 2193 MPH. If I wanted to get from the Oxford Airport to the Worcester Airport, which are about 100 miles apart, it would take me about 2.73 minutes of flight time between the two at maximum speed. I'll add about 10 minutes on there for acceleration and deceleration. Looks like I could make a 100 mile trip in about 12 minutes. More interestingly, it runs on something called JP-7 fuel, which has some very similar characteristics to Biodiesel. It would be interesting to see if a supersonic reconnaissance jet can run on B100.
