Flyin' Machine The CarterCopter - The first gyrocopter to break the Mu-1 barrier. This thing can take off vertically, fly 200mph, and land in a few hundred feet.

The best part? They are planning a Long-Range version which can theoretically fly around the world without refueling. How, you ask? Replace the Corvette engine with one that runs on diesel!

I actually saw one of these things fly... at Oshkosh, WI in 2002. Also, I got to try to fly it myself in their simulator (which was a Mac running X-Plane), but didn't get too far because it is tricky to learn and there was a long line.  ¶ Posted By james 6:41 AM
